Spring Break

Hi everyone! We are celebrating Spring Break this week. We left this past Friday for Cedar Key and returned on Sunday so that is why I did not post on Friday. We will be leaving in the morning for Daytona with my mom. So, I will take my laptop and maybe post while I am there. We are going to relax and enjoy the beach for three day. I will still be doing some homeschool with David but it will be more or less hit and miss stuff. Today, we have have been preparing for our trip by packing our suitcases and washing clothes and cleaning the house. So, there was no homeschool today. I hope everyone has a wonderful week.

ABCs and Numbers

We read lots of books today about the alphabet and numbers. I had David write his uppercase letters on some lined paper. I then had him try to create his own dot to dot picture using 18 dots exactly. He also practiced writing his numbers. We watered our carrots and peas today and spent time outside playing and drawing with the sidewalk chalk again. The tomato seeds we planted a few weeks ago are finally sprouting. So, we are getting excited about planting a tomato plant in our Topsy Turvy planter. I can't wait to see how well it will do. I have several friends who have one and they said they were able to grow tomatoes very well in them so I am looking forward to growing lots of tomatoes this spring and summer. I hope everyone had a nice day.

Beautiful Day

We are having beautiful weather today. I think Spring has finally arrived! Today, David practiced his phonics and letters. We have made it all the way up to S so far and are learning letter sounds. There were some workbook pages that David did practicing letter and number writing. We also planted out carrot and pea seeds today and David is very excited that he is responsible for keeping up with his little garden we planted. Since the weather was so nice we went outside and David wrote his numbers 1-18 with sidewalk chalk on the cement. We also learned how the blood vessels work in our body and heart. I used the water hose outside to demonstrate what happens if our blood vessels get clogged by eating unhealthy. We took a nature walk and found some trees with some buds on them and little purple flowers blooming in our fields. It was fun and so nice to be outside doing things again than staying inside all the time. Tonight, we will read some books about Spring. Have a nice day everyone.

Gardening Day

Today we had fun outside in the beautiful sunny weather. We are in the process of planting our carrot and string bean seeds for our homeschool studies. I always love this time of year when you can see all the little flowers starting to bloom in the fields and how nature just comes to life out of the blue. David practiced with some flash cards today with his numbers. We read a lot of books today and kind of took it easy with the other workbook stuff that we normally do. It was a short day due to a funeral we had to attend. We are looking forward to the warmer weather this week.

Plants and seeds

Happy Monday everyone! We are beginning our study today about plants and growing things from seed. We are going to learn how to grow carrots and string beans over the next two weeks. I love to garden and so does David so this will be a fun thing to do in our homeschool. David did some alphabet, phonics, and number review today. We went outside today to use our sidewalk chalk on the cement to draw a number line 1 - 20 and to learn all about it and how to move forward and backward on the number line. I am reading some books about friendship this week and how friends are very important and the right way to treat our friends. We will also be making a friendship bracelet. The library will be our outing this afternoon as we need to pick up several books there to check out. We will also be signing a petition to save our library as it was in the newspaper that our local library and some others may be closing soon due to budget cuts. I love my library and support it in all ways that I can. Have a great day everyone!

Three day combo homeschool day

Hi all! I am back once again. I will be doing three days of homeschool today. Busy, busy, busy! We had our playgroup this past Wednesday and I was unable to do homeschool that day and then my 86 year old Aunt fell and broke her arm yesterday so I went to see her in the hospital in Gainesville. Therefore, there was no homeschool yesterday either. So, today we will be catching up on those two days we missed and also doing today's homeschool. Hopefully next week will be a normal week and I will get to post each day. Have a great weekend everyone!

Sea Creatures

What a beautiful sunny day it is today. We have been having a hard time today doing our homeschool studies without being distracted by the wonderful Spring weather that has arrived and is just begging us to go outside and be in it. LOL! Anyway, we did do homeschool today and studied more about the seashore and the sea creatures. David practiced doing his patterns today with blocks. We made an ocean scene on costruction paper with fish, sea plants, and other creatures. David used fingerpaints and sponge shapes to make the ocean scene. There was review of addition and one subtraction problem and also phonics review all the way up to letter Q. We will be reading some books later on this afternoon and playing outside today before the rain comes tomorrow.

I am back

Hi everyone,

I am so sorry that I have not posted in over two weeks. There was so much sickness at our house that it was just too hard for me to post and keep up with everything else. But I am back and looking forward to posting each day again.

Today, we read a bunch of books on baby animals. We are beginning our study about the seashore today and the rest of this week. I will be purchasing some cheap sponges from the Dollar General and we will cut them into the shapes of sea creatures and then David can use them to play with when he takes a bath. David made a goldfish pattern out of orange construction paper to use with a goldfish fingerplay. We practiced phonics all the way up to letter P and practiced ordinal numbers using David's stuffed animals. That was fun for him and I. David also practiced some letter tracing.

We are very much looking forward to the Spring weather coming out way. We can't wait to explore the bugs and nature in the coming weeks. See everyone tomorrow.
